EcoFlow RIVER 2 Pro: what it runs in an outage
The RIVER 2 Pro is the smallest station we’d suggest for an overnight outage: light enough to carry with one hand, big enough for a connected, lit night — but its 800W output rules out kitchen appliances.
Availability: All configurations shown as sold out / pre-order at EcoFlow US when checked 2026-10-12.
Good fit if you…
- mainly want Wi-Fi, lights, phones and a laptop through a night
- need something you can carry easily (about 18 lb)
- have a CPAP without a heated humidifier (test it first)
Look elsewhere if you…
- want to run a fridge through a full 12-hour outage
- want to run anything over 800W — microwave, kettle, hair dryer, space heater
- want to add battery later (it isn’t expandable)
Estimated runtimes
These come from the same calculation as the planner: our representative appliance figures, efficiency estimated from the load, and a 10% battery reserve. The range runs from our cautious to our optimistic estimate; verdicts use the expected value in between. Your appliances will differ — try your own.
| Load | Runtime | Verdict |
|---|---|---|
| Wi-Fi, lights and phones, 8 hours | about 7.6–10.1 h | Only just |
| Fridge alone, 12 hours | about 7.4–9.7 h | Runs out early |
| Fridge, Wi-Fi and lights, 12 hours | about 4.6–5.5 h | Runs out early |
| CPAP with heated humidifier, one night (8 hours) | about 9.8–14.0 h | Covers it (estimate — test first) |
| Work-from-home day: Wi-Fi, lights, phone, laptop (8 hours) | about 5.1–6.2 h | Runs out early |
| CPAP plus fridge, overnight (8 hours) | about 5.0–6.0 h | Runs out early |
What the numbers mean for you
On our estimate the RIVER 2 Pro runs Wi-Fi, lights and phone charging for about 9 hours, and a typical fridge on its own for about 8–9 hours. That’s an overnight bridge for the fridge, not a 12-hour answer.
Its limits are output and expansion. At 800W continuous, it can’t run a microwave, kettle or hair dryer. Its X-Boost mode lets some heating appliances run at reduced power, but that’s no help for most kitchen gear. And because it can’t be expanded, the 768Wh you buy is the 768Wh you’ll have.
Limitations and things to check
- Availability: all configurations shown as sold out / pre-order at EcoFlow US on Oct 12, 2026.
- Weight: EcoFlow’s US page says about 18.2 lb; its EU spec sheet says 7.8 kg (17.2 lb).
- The number of AC outlets (4) comes from an independent review; EcoFlow’s US page doesn’t list it.
- X-Boost (up to 1,600W) shares a number with the 1,600W surge rating; they’re different mechanisms.

Boost mode: X-Boost (up to 1,600W) is a reduced-power mode for resistive loads. It happens to match the 1,600W surge figure; the two are different and never added.
